About two weeks ago my 96 Sierra with the 6.5 turbo diesel engine began to randomly cut off. I have changed the fuel filter, blew fuel lines out, and checked the lift pump. Does anybody have a clue what could cause this? It has 116,000 miles on it and i have had the truck for 4 years and bought it from the original owner, this is the only trouble it has given me.

 

You probably have a pmd going bad. Its the black box on the side of the injection pump and I would move it behind the front bumper.

 

I just got back from the dealer. They want $2600 to replace the injection pump, lift pump, fuel filter housing, and the oil pressure sensor and to install a remote pmd. The trade in value on my truck is $2500. Is it worth spending $2600 to keep this truck running considering it only has 116000 miles or should i trade it in? I can only afford a $250 monthly payment. What happened is my filter housing tube is breaking apart and going into my injection tube.
