I got back to the shop later than I expected. The part in your pictures is the forward planetary gear. The drum it fits in is called the forward ring gear and it is probably bad also and you need to check the sun gear which is in the large sheet metal drum behind it. How do the clutches and steel plates look? If the steel plates are not scored you can get a rebuild kit with just clutches. I will try to e-mail you the diagrams. the trickyest part of rebuilding is the overdrive clutches in the extension housing. With a little care you can use c clamps to take the clutch piston springs apart. What part of the country are you in?

got it back together and everything seems to work fine but the truck is in the process of being painted right now and i will post a before and after pic in the before and after pic thread as soon as it is done.....
