Help I Got A Powerstroke
can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my 2004 power stroke i had the egr cooler replaced a 60,000 now it has 1003,000.its starting to burn coolant again but here is the catch ,if i let the truck warm up to operating temp ,it will not smoke ,if i let it warm for a couple of minutes and drive it will start burning coolant ,then if i stop shut it off ,restart it let it get to operating temp its fine .does anyone have any ideas ,the dealer is no help the just want to keep replacing parts till it stops what its doing

Coolant system pressure up causing the recovery tank to spill over? Heater blow hot, cold, then hot again w/ a fluctuating temp gauge? They'll be signs of a cracked head or leaking head gasket. Might not be the problem, but just ideas.

Easy way to tell if its a cooler again, which wouldn't suprise me. Remove the EGR valve, apply pressure to the degas bottle, jack up the back of the truck and look in the intake where you removed the EGR valve. Usually there will be coolant present in the intake if the cooler is busted. If your lucky it will be the cooler, but its around time for those head gaskets to be replaced.
