Default Hard To Start

i have a 2001 24v the truck blew a head gasket i troe it al down and replaced it i put the motor back together put the fule lines back on and got it to were i could bleed the lines and the truck would run good just sitting there but whne you shut it off its hard to start back up but you can get it running but it blow white smoke and runs real choppy but then smothes out i have bleed the thing 2 times and drove it some thinking tat there is still air in the lines but it dont seem to help the truck ran great till it blew the headgasket but now it runs crappy if any one has had this problem befor or knows how to fix it please help

Sounds like you getting air in the system somewhere , it will work its way out

White smoke can also indicate head gasket problems, are you sure you got everything torqued and sealed in there.

Using a code reader have it checked for codes and ya more then likely you still have air trapped in the system someplace.

with an 01' you can check alot of your codes on the odo by cycling the key three times ending with it on.

The on board diagnostic is good if your in a crisis on the side of the road but I just don't think much of it if you can get to a code reader. It doesn't tell you more codes then it does.

Did you change the oil?
And also somtime water can hide in places untill it runs for an hour or so( on a worse case basis) nothing damaged any of the cylenders/pistons?

Did it hydrolock?

Few questions ideas!
