Dead In The Street....

If he did a 180 it sounds like he locked up the rear end... maybe I'm reading it wrong, but when my truck dies I gently pull it to the side of the road.
Could be you locked up the trans/t-case like I did (t-case). That'll lock up the rear end, but in neutral the engine will crank and run fine, however if it tried to lock up at any decent speed (mine was under 20mph) you may have twisted something internal, or thrown a rod possibly (extremely hard to do, they're friggin' huge!).

His 180 was in general well being, not what his truck litterally did. I'm hopin he comes back after work to update us on this. Hate to see a guy new to this world have these problems already.

or lift pump.. also if your low on fuel maybe your draw straw has cracks.
but lets stick to the filter/lift pump idea first!

With this little bit of info there's not much to go on but right now I'm betin on bad fuel and the trucks safety systems are shuttin it down when the sensors catch it. He starts it back up and it runs for a few seconds then shuts off again when the sensors still see bad fuel, or bad fuel supply.
