Inconsistent starting

I have a 95 6.5L GMC diesel pick up for 6 years now. Had 160,000 K when I bought it & 181,000K now. Problem is last few times it will not start at first, just turns over & over. Then the next day it starts after first crank. Is it the fuel filter? Filter is 4 years old but not much mileage on it. Truck only used occasionally 4-6 times during the year, but I start it and run it until it warms up every 10-14 days just to keep everything tight. Truck works & rides great except for this recent starting issue. Any ideas? Thanks

welcome to db, I had trouble with the timer, it didn't work every time and it would fry some of my glow plugs. mine would not start on 7 plugs. could be fuel bleeding off also. good luck
