Default Integrated Trailer Brakes

I have a 2007 Silverado 3500. I keep getting "Service Trailer Brake System" in the DIC. Here are some examples of when I get the message, but I do not always get the message in these examples. No trailer connected-Start truck, put in reverse and get message. Sometimes when a trailer is connected I will get the message right after pluging it in or just driving down the road. Some times it goes off when I use the turn signal with the trailer connected. Some of the time the message appears and the goes away and everything works normal, but some of the time the message appears and stays and I'm left with no trailer brakes. Occasionally I can shut the truck off and restart it and have it work normal, but not always. I have checked the fuses and they all appear fine. The truck does this with any trailer, but my other truck has no issues with the same trailers. The truck has been taken to different dealers, but they can never get the error message.

Any fix yet? Mine is acting up. Trying not to go to the dealer
I thought I saw where the brake controller can fail

A small dealer I bought a couple trucks from told me that there is a junction box on top of the spare tire that might be the place to look for this problem. If it's there I'm guessing that in that horribly dusty location it's probably not the place to have an electrical junction box!!!

On my 2011 I did notice that when I played with the dash control (with no trailer) that it straightened out for a while, then went right back with the stupid warning! Thanks GM - just what we needed, another stupid reason to have ANOTHER warning on the dash!!!!

If ya' get it fixed please fire me an email and tell me what you did - ok? Phil - clseller1@comcast.net

Default ...

Ya' know - it's too darned bad that we can't just kill that dash warning garbage and install our own brake controller on these things. It gets really aggravating having to look at goofy warnings about stuff that just doesn't need to be on these trucks, or that we don't care about

Stabilitrack? Traction control? Trailer brake? Give me a break!!!!

Next thing we're gonna hear is: "WARNING, WARNING - YOUR FEET ARE TOO WET TO RIDE IN THIS TRUCK!!!!"

And trust me - it IS gonna' get worse!
