well actually now that i think about it it does randomly tick. like make a ticking Shorting out sound)?a fuse maybe. its bein blowing the signal fuses but hasnt for awhile. i rewired the rotating light outlet. it works good had a bad short in it...It doesnt get driven daily and when it does it goes for 5 hours at a time.. good read ben. ill see if napa or lordco has those. any voltmeter should work to get that read right.. ? but first ill try whits idea... sounds easier... maybe on the way to lordco..last thing i need to do is break down in front of a rig......

um.... no....

there should be some play in the sensor mounting holes.... "if" it isn't bad then you should be able to loosen the screws (there are 2 of them) and using a voltmeter to probe the wires (should be 3) find the one that is the closest to 1volt DC with the throttle in the idle position with the key on and that wire with the key on engine off should be ~5VDC at wide open throttle. so with the throttle at the idle position and the key on and the engine off you should be able to loosen the screws, and slightly rotate the sensor. watch the volt meter and get it as close to 1 volt DC as possible. i always set mine to .999VDC you might have to remove the sensor and using a rat tail file oblong the holes to make it more adjustable..... or you can get a new one and slap it on there and not worry..... they start reading low voltage when they get old......

every Chevy i've had has had a random tick. it's usual for them.... my 4.3 v6 had the accessories rattle loose from the motor, my 350 vortec constantly had exhaust leaks..... timing rattle, lifter rattle from not adjusting the rocker arms..... there are alot of things a rattle/tick could be.....

well the tick sounds like when your checking the codes........... so maybe its self diagnosing itself.. and its got about 400,000.00 k on it. so yea the dmax is up next for the job.. we just have to get a custom light bar for it, and were good to go.
