steering idler slop
Hey guys, sorry to jump on your thread here, but I having a problem. I am working on my sisters trucks (1997 Chevy Suburban 1/2 5.7L A/T 4x4) and I am trying to replace the pitman arm on it. The problem is the thing wont budge. I took off the lower bolt to the steering rods and the stud wont let go. I have tried putting a puller on it, a pry bar, a fork (I thought I was making progress but it was the fork splitting), an air chisel, having the pulling on and beating it with a hammer.......nothing. Any ideas? It's pretty leaky (grease/old oil) under there so I was trying to avoid a torch but I can't think of anything else.
Thanks for any help guys

Air hammer with a fork attachment should take care of the end on centerlink. If not, a hammer to the centerlink can do it too. Then you need a pitman arm puller to pull the arm off the gearbox side.
Thanks Rttoys, that's what I ended up doing
It's all back together now, for some reason halfway home it leaked all the fluid out (happen to pull over just to check everything) refilled it, got home and everything was fine, I'm thinking maybe some air in the system. I'll keep an eye on it for a few days at least. Thanks again
