They are pretty rare. I'm guessing the reason being is that most Chevy people at the time were all about small blocks and big blocks. Some people didn't even know Chevy had a diesel in the 90's let alone put it in a 1/2 ton pick up and SUV's. Most people dubbed the 6.5's unreliable too which is total bs if you ask me. Mines got 260k and still has plenty of life. It's not gonna tow 10 tons with ease but it will take me anywhere I wanna go without a doubt. Do the right fixes and keep up on maintenance and she will treat you real good!

The Tahoe/Suburbans are great and I wish I had one. The 6.5's get a bad rap some of it justified most of it isn't. I have had quite a few 6.5 trucks and have loved every one of them. I have had a few of them with over 300k on them still running strong.

GM used to make 1/2 trucks with 6.2's and 6.5's in them. I don't know why they never sold more of them. Most people that own them love them. They get better fuel mileage, have more power, and are more reliable than the small blocks.

Like on the 94+ you need to relocate the PMD. On all years you need to always make sure the grounds are clean. Change oil regularly. You know...just normal maintenance. Make sure there's plenty of coolant. Don't ever let the truck get too hot. It will blow a head gasket. The temperature guages on these trucks should have had the orange marks a little farther to the left. The 96+ 6.5's had dual tstats I believe so they're a little better when it comes to keeping cool.

I actually was gonna sell it a while ago but I don't think anyone would pay what I would I would want for it. I've got a lot of $$ invested in it. Everything is for sale for the right price though .
