i am trying to swap my transmission in my 1993 2500 from a five speed to a 4l80e and i don't know exactly what all i need. i have the transmission but i dont know if i need a cpu for the transmission or anything else. please help me with some details for everything i need... i also have a 700r4 and am considering it if it is alot of trouble to get the 4l80e to operate...

 

i dont believe you would need a computer because pre 94 everything is mechanical

 

The 4L80E is computer trans you can get a ECM just for the trans

 

May I ask what's wrong with the 5 speed?
