I have owned 5 6.5's and every one of them got different mpg. The strange thing is It doesn't seam to matter what size the truck was. The smallest one and only 2wd light 3/4ton got the worst at 14 and the biggest one until the one I just got was a 1 ton 4wd crew cab and I had squeezed 19.5 out of it before.

 

what about y'all guys with a dually? What kinda mpg are y'all getting?

i got a 1995 gmc seirra 1500 with a 6.5 turbo deisel and it keeps breaking starter bolts about every 30 days or so the first time i thought i may have put the starter on too loose so i took it to a shop and had the second set put on then the local chevy dealership has put the last five sets of starter bolts on for me at a cost of 136 dollars each time does anybody have any suggestions of what i could try to stop this from happening again i love my truck but if it keeps doing this im going to get rid of it please help im lost have had several other trucks like it and never even heard of anybody having this problem before

we got simalar trucks have you ever had problems with your truck breaking starter bolts im at a loss with mine got any ideas that may help i would appreciate them

 

I have had them break bolts before but not to that extent. Make sure the front bracket is on the starter an that it is engaging the flywheel correct.

 

x2 the front bracket is a pain in the *** but it is a must have

 

IT IS ON THATS THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS THE STARTER FROM HITTING THE GROUND EACH TIME THAT THE BOLTS BREAK THAT AND IT GETTING STUCK ON THE EXHAUST ITS A GREAT TRUCK WHEN ITS RUNNING ONLY GOT 75000 MILES ON IT AND IVE PUT THEM ALL ON IT EXEPT FOR 300 MILES THAT WERE PUT ON IT BY PEOPLE DURING TEST DRIVES SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THE TRUCK HAD TOO MUCH TORQUE FOR THAT STARTER BUT ITS A GM FACTORY STARTER HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THIS AND IF SO WOULD BUYING A STRONGER STARTER HELP? IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC STARTER THAT YOU WOULD RECOMEND I DONT MIND SPENDING MORE MONEY IF IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT I REALLY DONT KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN IVE GOT MY NEW TRUCK NOW AND THIS TRUCK IS GOING TO BE MY PROJECT I WANT TO START ADDING A LOT OF MODS AND UPGRADES TO IT BUT I WANT TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE ADDING ANYTHING ELSE TO IT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO I MAY HAVE TO PUT NEW BOLTS IN IT AND SELL IT OFF BUT IM PARTIAL TO THAT TRUCK

 

For mileage the best way to go... Like stated before.

New exhaust turbo back 3'' down pipe to 4'' pipe.
Keep your vacuum wastegate, has been proven in getting better mileage than a mechanical controller.
K47 filter and PVC elbow for flow intake.
Get a chip (yours is OBD1)
A big factor is gearing. 3.42's are great for mileage. 3.73's are in the middle and 4.11's are gonna be worse yet.
