Default 83 c10 transmission questions

hey guys, my tranny decided it has had enough today. so i need to know for sure what transmission is in the truck. im guessing its a 700r4? i know its not a 350t. also i was wondering if it is a 700 if its the same housing/tailshaft design as one used in a camaro. a guy at work told me he had a 700r4 out of a camaro i can pick up a lot cheaper than a rebuild. thanks for any insight.

As long as yours is a 2wd, it'll work. Look at the pan, and you'll be able to tell. The 700R4 has a big rectangular pan, almost square all the way around.

The pan is the easiest way to tell. 700r4 is square, TH350 is square with a corner cut out, and the TH 400 honestly kinda looks like Texas I know it sounds weird but if you look at one you would see it

call a chevy dealer and they should be able to tell you if you tell them the make and model of the truck
