95 6.5 gmc what to look for
First let me say i am very new to diesel engines but am very mechenicly inclined so bear with me.
Im looking at a 94 gmc 6.5 z71 and i need too now what to look for. the guy says that all it needs is an injector pump. he said when he pours gas into it it starts but then dies and it wont start on its own.
what tests or things should i do when i go look at it to figure out the problem so that i dont buy a juncker?
thanks

I'd look at a faulty lift pump. Course a bad injection pump causes a no start issue also.
What you can do is loosen the fuel line going into the fuel filter and turn they key on. If you get fuel to it, it's possible the fuel filter is plugged off solid or the injection pump is indeed shot. If you don't get any fuel, got a bad lift pump (if electric).
Now if it's the filter, change it, re-bleed the fuel system, then attempt to start the engine again.

a couple psi, not much. you should hear it running when you first turn the key on, its down on the inside of the frame rail on the driverside. might also want to try a new PMD as those quit all the time too.
