Default Alot of Blacksmoke

I got a 96 chevy one ton 6.5L. My truck pukes out tons of black smoke enough to coverr the road to where people cant see behind me. Should i be concerned about this? It runs fine and has plenty of power but just wondering if this is bad on the truck?

I would be a little bit cause you can get a ticket for excessive smoke. As long as you get into a lot you shouldn't have a problem

6.5s should smoke under normal circumstances. I would check to make sure that your wastegate system is working correctly first. I would also make sure that your air filter is clean and that there is no obstructions in front of the turbo or air intake.

make sure it can freely move and there is no play in the turbo. for 6.5 who had the first question check to make sure the vaccum system is working

when it boggs down does it pour out black smoke. if theres no turbo play your probably not getting any boost and the wastegate is open. wire it shut and drive around for a bit and see if it gets any better. dont drive it like you stole it but normal street driving. look for any holes in the vaccum system or broken hoses

well if your pouring out blacksmoke i can tell you are losing power. 6.5s cant flow enough fuel to be pouring out black smoke and have the turbo working. the hose going from the wastegate to the front of the engine should be checked. the vaccum pump is in the iddle of the serpintine belt on the bottom. most likely it is not working.
