Help with 94 6.5l turbo lots of problems
Hello everyone. I just bought a 94 k1500 ext cab 4x4 6.5l td with the 700r4 trans. im very new to the 6.5 diesels. the truck has 327000 miles on her. I know its alot. it has a new ip and pmd relocator. no other mods. now the issues im having are :
No power. when trying to get up to speed it does just fine if you take it easy but if you give it a little more fuel the black smoke pours but no difference in pickup. 2- I have a knock from the passenger side of head. I was told its an injector knock. however its getting worst, it sounds like a valve slapping the piston but there is absolutely no miss and shutter. and the final issue is the truck feels like it has the same amont of power as my 6.2l. there is no turbo boost feeling. also I cannot hear the turbo spool either. the cel comes on but goes right out after 3 seconds. I am unable to pull the dtc. I just hope I didn't buy a turd and screwed myself with this truck.

Sounds like a no boost situation, check all the vacuum lines and make sure the vac pump is working, should have 18+ "'s of vacuum at the wastegate actuator and 24+"'s from the vac pump.
No the vac system should have 18 inches or more of vacuum at the wastegate actuator and 24 inches or more from the vac pump.
Boost should be limited to 10 psi with spikes of 12 psi max.
Boost should be limited to 10 psi with spikes of 12 psi max.
the wastegates on these trucks are held shut by vacuum generated by the pump. if the pump goes out the wastegate actuator opens. this causes the turbo to be venting drive pressures all the time making spool-up way slower power will be way down unless in a WOT situation.
Also, this engine isn't supposed to be pouring black smoke like other diesels. If the guy before you turned up the fuel pump to the point where it belches black smoke you probably melted something, or blew the turbo.
