question on steering colum
Have a 94 chevy 3500/6.5 diesel / auto /tilt wheel.....
the steering column seems very loose at the knuckle/the left turn signal will only work when you press down gently on shaft then use the change lane feature.
I've had a lot of trouble with connections/ing. switch so frorth.
question is/////what steering colum can fit this thing????does it have to be diesel/will a half ton fit?

I don't think you have to special order one for a diesel, the steering components should be the same as say a 454 or a 350. Doesn't make sense that they would make different columns for the different engines, but who knows, plenty of people have done things that don't make sense.
The only thing I can think of that would change it is 2wds and 4wds since they might be different on the front axles.
As for the turn signal, there might be wiring or something, could you go into more detail on what you're talking about, are you pressing on the steering column or just the the lever on the steering wheel and the thing is just not working and what is the change lane feature?
After reading it over I'm even more confused, are you talking about what sticks out of the dash board around the steering wheel or the shaft that you can see from under the hood the the steering wheel turns? Either way I don't think it really matters that its a diesel, seem like they are "body" parts to me.

WOW,thats quite a video///hope it isn't as hard as it looks....Would that also correct any turn signal/4 way flashers problems from bad connections?
noticed from video that when he started it was daylight / ended it was dark....how long did it take????

I belive it would had a Monte Carlo with the symptoms you described and I think it was binding up causing it Left turn signal iI belive it was to do as yours is doing tightend it up and all was good after that
okay...I tighened the 4 bolts / put lock tight on them.....Now I put back together/////the bearings on the short shafy(steering shaft) won't tighten up...I don't think I lost any parts...the race that holds the bearings into that hub won't stay tight....I can tap it in....wiggle it an it comes out..now loose...It appears as if I need something to hold the race into the bearings.I don't see anything like that there.Any help on this?????
Got it fixed.....
turns out I had flipped the cup up side down(you see the spring before you stert video)
it holds the bearing race inpo the bearing an makes it tight.
thanks to all that helped me.I couldn't have done it without you guys...
