OBD ....AKA obd1

Hope you like to count

Its a pain, some scanners will read the pattern and tell you the code...It actully came out in 1972... I'm pretty sure they have a basic obd

you could do a glow plug check too,, all you need is a tester that you put on the glow plug light and the battery. you could check them all, make sure there all working right...
what engine is in there?

ok ready...... set. laugh!!!

ok i played a little on tuesday night. everything seemed okay like usual.. till about midnight when we went to leave. so it warmed up. them we got talking. and talking ....
turned it off. 30 minits later it did it again.

so i checked thre fuel filter. it was 1/2 dry. so we filled it up. vrooom starts, runs, dies.! ok so we get 5 gallons of fuel just to make sure. nope. same thing. im there till almost 2 am. i have to leave 45min drive home and juryduty at 8am.. crap

so 6 pm yesturday. i go back truck still in parking lot. try to start. nothing. no click from starter. hmm okay bad fuel pump and starter. atleast theres a kragen like 30 yards away in the same parking lot. get a new fuel pump. and try to get a filter. they dont have it. so after looking over the worthless repair guide. and rebuilding the starter. ( brush wires had broken , solder and screws fixed it) turns over get it to fire for about a minit this time...

im pissed and we are getting fuel. so its not the fuel pump.
now its 915 and kragen is closed. ok lets take things apart. i pull off the air cleaner.
housing etc. start tracing the fuel line.

right to the secondary fuel filter. that was not in the manual. or on anything at kragen. took it off and got sprayed with diesel. it was so clogged it itself was holding pressure between the injection pump and itself. so we drove 34 miles to the 24hour auto zone where the guy goes ohh yeah here. drivwe back,. put it on .. 5 starting attemps tuhhduhh. runs better than ever.

so my buddy has every receipt from the old owner. and spent an hour looking over everything. last replacement. 10-98.

ok begin ubscene comments now!
