I personally fix my friends cars or trucks. I work at a garage, so I always have access to a lift and tools.

If you have some basic tools, you could offer to do brakes or oil changes or whatnot for people. Have local buisness owners mention it to people as they walk in.

Or if you have a trailer, advertise in the paper as a you call-we haul service.

Good luck, with whatever you do.

there is a guy around here that has a company called "honey-do" he jsut bascially does side jobs putting up fences things like that. You would be suprised at how many people cant or dont want to do things like that. Or even better if you can weld do some fencing there is some good money in that.

My husband looks for things on craig's list. He found a guy needing work done to his 02 cummins, 97 p-stroke, tractors and 4 wheelers which he has experience in all. The guy pays good money and hands his number out to everyone he knows. Basically he does small jobs like oil changes, brake jobs, some performace stuff and has made some good extra cash doing it.

Usually an educated guess format.

Go look at the stuff, if it's all just junk then quote about 3x what the disposal fees are. If I can get $25-30 an hour on average it works...not trying to get rich...if they just have garbage then I call the disposal place and find out what a dumpster would run, then add 25% to it and then my labor is quoted accordingly.

If they have a bunch of useful items, then I'll take less.

Cars, machinery, etc I take for free.

One guy had 25 bundles of 1" 'heavy' cedar shakes......I paid him $200 for the shakes, he was super duper happy, and I sold them to the broker for just under $1,000......cost me about 2 hours of my time and $50 in fuel......

I look at it like this---I can get exercise, meet people (networking--ya never know who will call), be entertained, help out people who otherwise would be over-run by crap, plus the opportunity to make a mini-fortune if I ever find that old picture with a copy of the Declaration of Independence hidden in the frame....

I sell on eBay a lot, too.
