I have GLOCK models 17, 19, 22, 23, 34, 20,21 BUT I wouldn't carry one WHY, cause if you have one in the chamber & while fighting some butt-wipe, if he grabs your gun your done A kid grabs it while it's in the nightstand you're going to jail GLOCK can't shoot lead bullets{VERY DANGEROUS) don't do it YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH A 1911

I own a 9mm Glock 19.... as stated it doesnt have a safty...however.. alot of the holsters avaliable , like the one i own...has a safety built in. you slide the gun in and the holster locks around the trigger gurd.. and when you reach to grab the pistol... your finger naturally falls onto the release. Something else to consider.

I realize the dangers of owning firearms, especially around children. I've had gun safety pounded into my head ever since my parents started letting me play with toy guns. I keep my guns unloaded and out of reach of children and when I buy a pistol, I will buy a pistol safe that it will be locked in at night, which will be the only time that it wont be on my hip. I plan on taking some training classes also.

The biggest thing I have against a 1911 is that I've seen them in 9mm but I want one in .45 which is expensive ammo. I haven't made up my mind for sure that for 9mm I'm going to get a Glock but it will probably be my first choice. I'll check the XDs, M&Ps, and others in the $400-500 range. I should be able to save up about that much by the end of the month.

If I get a Glock, I plan on buying the Blackhawk Serpa holster which is like you described. I am a big fan of those. I don't like having a strap or thumb break style holster.

I have to modify my previous statement. Right now I keep my shotgun loaded and in a corner of my bedroom. I can get to it quick but its not where my sisters kids can get to it. If you saw my room, you'd agree that it would be difficult to hide a gun in it. I live in an apartment so I can't make one of those hidden holes in the wall or anything fancy like that.

What is the difference between the XD and XDm? I don't know enough about them to see any difference.

I'm not sure about the differences on the XD's. As far as the Glock, you'll be good with the Serpa. That's what I use for my Glock. On the Glock, three things have to happen before it will go off. Meaning there are three different safety mechanisms in the gun. If you haven't checked Springfield's site yet, here it is..

Springfield Armory

I didn't find any hard info on the differences between the XD and XDm.

My main pistol is a Kimber Pro Carry II. It's a 4 inch with a Hogue wrap around grip and night sites. I really like it. You can pick those up for around $600ish.

I love the two glocks i have(17&26)< the 26 is what i c/c, and about them not having a safety, a glock has what is called a safe action trigger so its kinda like on safety all the time in a way

$600ish used? I'm not finding a new one that cheap. I want the Tactical Pro II but its a $1200 gun so I'll have to wait to get it.

Just did some research on the XD and the only feature it has that I like that the Glocks do not have is the loaded chamber indicator. Its 3 oz heavier and everything else is pretty much just like a glock.
