we will be 70 hours from home( that's if you drive constantly that dont include hotel stays)...and 4,155 miles from home
in our winters our temps are 35 h- 15L
in our summers our temps are 89L-99H
their winters 22H- 9L but with an avg of 55 inches of snow
their summers 50 L- 70 H but with 22 hours of daylight
population 279,243
where i live.... population 1,300 ( and i swear i think thats too high)
Just a lot to take in...
O and i'm honestly scared to death of bears.... when i was younger like 10.. i used to have nightmares about bears in my yard!.... but I read more people are tramppled to death by moose than attacked by bears...
its a breathtaking place from what i can tell... every pic i have seen of the area has beautiful snow covered mountains! im pretty excited to move to alaska.... just wonder how long till im sick of the snow

Youll enjoy it. An important part of surviving and enjoying winter in the cold is to make sure youve got adequate winter clothing. Believe it or not, lots of people run around underdressed and not prepared in the dead of winter (around here anyway)

Dana,
simply take it as a chance to develop new skills and experience.
I really hope you will try skiing and all the other wintersports- it's so much fun!
Hopefully you are not a couch potato??
You will get briefed about everything which will be important. And I still guess most bears are more afraid of us than vice versa.
Ha, Alaska. If I could I would visit Alaska. JD is also available in Alaska- shouldn't be a problem to get connected with home if needed.
Just inform yourself if those DIY movement programs still exist. You get some $$ back for doing your move yourself!
You only change the location- you won't get lost up there!
I always gathered as much info as possible in advance. So it was less stress.
Have fun. It's still a while until then.
