I was stationed in Ft. Wainwright up by Fairbanks. Its not to bad in Anchorage, milder winters too.

It won't be much of a shock.....well, not many people speak with a drawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwl but for the most part, Anchorage is a huge city with everything you'll ever want or need right down the street.

The scenery 2 minutes outside of town is gorgeous....you'll be living in a place many only dream about.

In July you'll have about 22 hours of daylight....stay off the mudflats during low tide, and watch out for bears.

Have a blast!
