Being an old army sniper, I could probably make that shot. But I don't envy the guy that HAD to make that shot. That was a really really nice shot !!

 

That was a very very bad shot. That shot made it harder for police officers to justify shooting a man with a gun. It raises the question of why didn't you just shoot the gun out of his hand. Now if that was a set up for a trick shot it was a great shot.

 

Why does this spark everyones attention? A trained SWAT sharp shooter that can hit a 1.5" square from 70 yards with a .308 and that $1000 scope? I would be more amazed if it was at 500yards with iron sights....IMO they should have just shot him to begin with...

 

Or better let let him shoot himself.

 

BigDiesel has a good point. I think if i shot a hell of alot more or was on the SWAT team i could make the shot.

 

Yeah, not really that big a deal. From 80 yards out its well within the Point Blank Range of the setup. If the rifle is zero'd at a hundred yards its basically putting the gun in the crosshairs and squeezing off a round. Now, the ricochet would be about impossible to control, so the perp got real lucky he didn't take it in the face, off a leg, or in the chest.

 

to be honest, he missed, 'cause you know deep down that dude was tryin to hit the trigger so he could go the heck home !
