well if the well is going dry the landlord has to fix it as it worked when you moved in.

Witching is pretty easy. Water witching (dowsing) works!

It's also called Dowsing. You can take 2-brazing rods and bend a 90* about 6-8" Then get you two 6-8" pieces of copper tubing and stick the short bent end into the tubing. Now hold the rods pointing straight in front of you and start walking over where you think the water line is. If you have the rods balanced right, they'll cross all by themselves right above the line. It's MAGIC! Good dowsers can just use their hands and sticks.

Having a well with lots of people will likely be a challenge when the water table is low. You'll have to learn how to conserve water when, where and however you can.

It may be as simple as limiting the showers to shorter times and spacing the useage of the water throughout the day more to allow the well to re-charge.

You may also notice during peak water usage times or after heavy rains that the drains and toilets flush slow too... (because of slow septic system.)

Remember when you wake up to your beautiful surroundings you aren't in the city any more and don't have unlimited water and sewer service.

Yea we kinda found that out this weekend. Im afraid to do laundry honestly!

Its going to be a challange anyhow living here with all these people.( kids and Dogs),, they want to escape to go camping leaving me with two of the four dogs,. I do like dogs dont get me wrong, but when they take off ( run away) , crap all over like down stairs last night and this morning.., and bark their faces off ( thats the one they want to leave), I dont like em much. I would like to take off this weekend but they want me to watch there dogs!
If i wasnt here they would spend the whole day in there Kennels so they are lucky i let them out at least and play with them ,brush them, walk them etc..

I dont want to hurt any feelings, but I can just take off, simply because I dont have any dogs/cats to worry about at home.
My only responsibility is Alexis and my other kids whom i m picking up this weekend. My son has two dogs and when it comes the time to stay, if he brings them I will take reponsibility for them, but till that time........... I have no animals to take care off,,, except lexi..........

sorry Rant over.!

Sorry, I can't understand going camping without my dog, so can't help you there.

But, if you are worried about the washer filling the septic too much and causing slow downs ... get an extension tubing or hose or pipe and run the washer drain to the base of the nearest tree. (The tree will love you for it too.) It is perfectly acceptable and absolutely won't hurt a thing. (Don't run it to your vege garden though.)

Good luck!

All of that stuff Jenn is the responsibility of the owner, not the renter. He best be getting it fixed ASAP or you guys have grounds against him with the rental board. Next, get him to buy a sistern (sp?) that will hold 1000+ gallons of potable water. Get him to sort out his plumbing in the house and use the grey water for laundry, toilets and gardens etc. That's not hard to do, just takes time and some $$.

While he's at it get the pump serviced or replaced and have the GPM checked to confirm you have at least 5GPM coming up which is all you really need for a residence.

You'll need to do your part about water conservation and so forth but that's not really that hard.

Enjoy...

that makes sense Wyatt.. its all new to me. It goes through a Property Manager, adn she wasnt answering , Shes does that on weekends. We will have to get our lists of concerns together. those big holding tanks is that what you mean? that hold up to 1000 gl of water?
Tim just bought a down drain thingy so it points the water straight downinto the well and some long black tubing to go from the top of the road cause it has to travel all the awy to the bottom of the hill.
IM not sure why he doesnt just drive the whole holding tank down there?
This is where i miss my truck the most.
. Ill go find a camera and take s some pics. maybe we can get help rigging some other system up to it...ill be back in a few....

We deal with water shortages and restrictions throughout every year... so for us it's nothing new. God sometimes doesn't guarantee that we have 5 gallons per day, much less 5 gallons per minute. There are whole small towns that run out of water and have to truck in water throughout the day to fill up the water tanks.

During rainy years our well/pump is capable of considerably more than 5gpm. But when the well is dry, the well is dry.

I am not sure that I understand your setup. It sounds as if you have a spring fed underground cistern, or shallow hand dug well or something different that you pump from to the house and not a well like we are used to here. Our well is a 8" hole that is 450 feet deep.

An additional above ground cistern/storage tank would help to buffer when your well is recovering or filling back up. But, conservation is key.

Are you in a dry season?

Yes, the summer months on the west coast of Canada are normally very dry as they are now. The rest of the year is generally never a problem. Fiest of famine you know.
