Hi, my 93 7.3 N/A is being strange, when I first start it up cold it runs rough and misses and smokes bluish white smoke, it eventually levels out when the truck warms up. And now its even still smoking at idle.it doesnt burn coolant or oil. I was told that thr advance inside the pump was bad and I could use addictive to add lubcritcity to help but id end up needed a new pump eventually. My temperate sensor gauge doesnt get in thr normal range so I was wondering if the electronic cold start advance was an issue. The truck has new fuel return lines kit and lift pump. Also the fuel tank started leaking pretty bad. Just wondering he anybody could give me some advice

 

fuel filter .. does yours still have the plastic bowl on the bottom ?

If so .. go to your local parts store and use the exchange number ( BF-1222.. Baldwin #) It will inter change with Wix, Napa, Etc ..

Thabks man and yes I do use a cup less filter. I got a pump rebuilt and am picking it up once I get the old one out. Ill keep you guys posted.

 

I think that your gonna find that your supply lines to the Lift pump may be the issue .. also there is a small bushing on the IP where the lines comes into the IP that can fail and cause the IP to suck air ..

 

Has a new lift pump, where is this bushing?

 

the bushing is @ the IP .. if you were to loosen the supplu line from the Filter housing @ lift IP .. its under that brass nut .. its like plastic/rubber .. if its all mushey .. it can suck air there too .. I had to replace the entire line with a SS braided supply line .. Never ran better than that ..
