Default 88 7.3 idi

I have a 1988 7.3 idi and had issues with it starting, i replaced glow plugs and the loom. I dont know much about a diesel motor but do good with gas. Now this truck is stumping me, since putting the new glow plugs in and the new loom, she will still not start, without jumping it across the slylinoid(?). What the heck could be the problem now?

You need to be a little more specific. Is the motor turning over and just not firing up? Which solenoid are you jumping, the starter solenoid or the glow plug controller solenoid?

[QUOTE] Go on ebay and type in 7.3 idi, and hit ebay motors and you'll see a manual glow plug bypas kit. Contains new relay, and button with wire, I'm gonna do the glow plug coversion on mine in the nex couple months, How ford done that is a little black timer box and light duty solenoid, when you turned the key on, it's supossed to hold them for 20 sec but like mine is only holding for 8, you can buy it for 65.00 and you wont be disipointed, it has a plug for the WTS light, you wire it up and hold the button for 20-30 sec, and it'll fire right up for ya

This is for the 88 7.3 idi post: Go on youtube, and watch the video, 7.3 idi cold start after new glow plugs, Blackhawk8427 He informed me about all the problems and horror stories, that have to do with using autolites, use, either Beru, accuate diesel glow plugs. Along with one of my little tricks witch is a heavy duty relay, and a push button, and I wired around my controller, and im VERY VERY HAPPY with it

I'm a newbie, tryin to contribute and don't know crap about diesels, but, make sure the injectors is bled from any air. I ran into a problem where we switched tanks, and tried to start on an empty tank and sucked air into the injector and had to bleed all the lines to get the diesel back into the injectors from tank 1.
