You don't need to, I know some guys do just to keep it less messy. Used a turkey baster to suck the oil out.

I trimmed off the EGR cooler tab and I did a mock up of the Banks elbow prior to installation. Among other advantages to this manifold style, it doesn't appear as the turbo pedestal has to come out just to remove the intake.

This little gem is next to the oil filter return, I did the push/twist to remove and found that 2 of 3 tabs were gone! Does anyone know what it's called?

FOUND IT! It's a drain back valve pn 3C3Z-6800-A. Too bad I have to wait until tomorrow to get one now.

Good to know Karl, never seen that before myself and that makes sense since I've never touched the drain back valve .
