Bullet Proof Oil Cooler Install
04 F-350 CC SB 4x4 Lariat
Well finally happened a 2nd time (OIL Cooler Clog).
So I went with the Bullet Proof Oil Cooler w/ factory oil filter, only because I already have the bypass set-up.
The start was bad oil temp 32 degrees higher than coolant. (NOT GOOD). I spent about a week to do all the work, got rained out several times. Basic mech work. I can say that if you own a 6.0L you need this kit or one like it.
After everything was back together and checked about a dozen times, I fired the old beatie up. Imagine my suprise after 2 cranks that it fired right up and only hiccuped twice and was fine after that. Oh, No leaks WOW!!! a few extra parts but that was expected.
So drove around the house for a couple of days then had to go back to work.
I drive from Jax to Savannah regular. I just got out and pushed on the cruise (between 75-80) Temp outside 82 degrees. truck had no porblems at all. EOT 188---- FWT 190-191.
Again if you don't want to change that oil cooler you need one of these kits. I guess we'll see how it really works here in about 2 weeks I'll be pulling our fifth wheel home 12,500lbs. The hardest part I had was getting the rusted bolts loose from the up pipe. One good thing out of this is I actually piked up approx 2-3 miles per gallon. Not much but it helps. Iwould rate this work about a case.
