THanks, any chance you can tell me what hte egr throttle plate is, and what happens if it sticks?

it is right under the intake elbow, it helps direct egr gasses into the intake, late 04 trucks are the only ones with them, just get yourself a 05 or later intake elbow and do away with the butterfly, my truck had the housing but no butterfly from the factory. replaced mine with a CFM intake for an 05. if the butt-fly sticks it will restrick air flow but it won't cut it off

If I do egr delete, would that make this repair pointless?

No, the EGR deletes do not compensate for this. Just look for a used stock intake elbow off an 05+ truck.
