I don't agree with that. You can do a LOT with the tuner, but the solenoid is still a worthwile upgrade. Call Doug @ GoGo, or talk to him on powerstrokenation (username is PSDplayer), he will explain it in detail as to why it's a good investment. He is a smart guy.

I dont view the solenoid as necessary, but it's certainly not a bad buy.

alright, with the torqshift being controled by my pcs controller behind the cummins, he said all the solenoid does is ad 20psi of pressure to the drive clutches. i can increase that pressure for free on my laptop

I keep forgetting you have this behind a cummins. I see you are also using stand-alone management for the transmission too, so you are probably able to do things that we can not with just a programmer.

The solenoid itself is able to physically flow more fluid from what I understand. If you read the original link to the solenoid @ GoGo, it explains it quite well.

yeah, thats a benefit of the stand alone computer. you can go into so much detail that i dont even understand. but you also need to know how to properly tune it so when im putting 700hp to it i dont burn it up, which i really dont know how to do yet, im hopeing to get scott from destroked on the phone soon so he can give me tuning tips so it can handle my motor and last a long time

the direct solenoid gives 100% more fluid to the direct clutches 100% faster than the stock solenoid. ask your seld this... if suncoast puts it in their kits to rebuild the tranny and they are not needed does this make sense? this is effective in reverse, 2nd, 5th and 6th. if you smoke the direct clutches you loose more than half of the tranny. a built torqshift runs north of 3000 bucks. this is a documented issue on this tranny. there are a few weak points on this tranny but it is overall a good tranny
