the stock air filter does flow plenty of air. but it is a major pain in the @$$ to change. hince why most people put on aftermarket air intake.. a dremel tool with a cut off wheel works very well for cutting out your ZOODAD mod...

They're no trouble at all to change.

Take the degas hose off that goes from the rad to the degas bottle. Undo the clamp from the turbo inlet tube at the end of the tube that comes from the air filter housing. Pull it back and yank the whole works out as one piece. Change the filter, and reassemble as necessary. I can do it in under 6 minutes. (one tenth on the punchclock at work).

Don't forget to pull the filter minder out as well as unplug the MAF sensor if equipped.

all the diesel shops around here say to get a afe stage2 pro dry system but they too also say you dont need them untill you are pushing 500hp out but they help cool the truck and sound cool

I have an afe intake on mine and cut a hole in the grill. I used window screen and ss hardware clothe to make a prefilter screen to keep out bugs, leaves, birds and small children. works well so far.
