Now on my case ih tractors that smoke on a light load lets say hauling manure and then dont smoke when they are on a 1000 gallon a minute manure pump and using all the power they have and then some, am I a wasteful diesel enthusiast or just a normal farmer just a question

The exhaust housing on the tractor turbo is larger. This keeps egt's down when operating at a full load at high rpm, but causes slow spooling. It will smoke when the load increases until the turbo catches up. This system works for its application. A smaller exhaust housing (or smaller turbo overall) would take care of light load smoke, but would cook the motor running at pto rpm. I guess you could be a normal farmer, but your interest might make you a a diesel entheusiest. Your call.
