Default My really hot HX-40, not good.

For anyone else who is running a hx-40 on their 1st gen whats the highest egts youve put out? i just had my truck dynoed and while under the load my egts peaked up to 1500-1600 for a sec or two on all 3 runs. I never woulda thought that it wouldnt cool my motor any better than that. It was at about 45psi at that temp too. Its a 16cm exhaust and 8 fin wheel. I think i may be in need of a more efficiet turbo or some other tunning. thanks for any imput

im not exactly sure i couldnt see what my tach said from the passenger side of my truck. it was right after the "hit" where the guy put it to wot. by looking at my paper work id say from 2200 rpm to 2600 where the lines go down. but even then tho it was still running around ilke 1300 or so once things plained out.

That little spike is not hurting anything, it is way out of its range of making power though... time for an upgrade....

I used to peg the 1600* gauge in my 1st gen and it would take it a solid 3-4 seconds to come off the peg in my 1st gen. No clue how hot it was. While the exhuast is that hot the metals take time to get that hot. think about putting a torch on a piece of metal.

But again, you not making any power like that, you turbo is so far out of its range its just shoving hot air.

hmm i see what you mean. it is like you said just for a few seconds. its not like im towing with it and i drive up hills with it that hot. ya i deffinetly need a better turbo. i was hoping id be more near 350 or so with what i have done. im glad i have an actuall number to go off of now instead of just guessing. you know of a good turbo that would be a good match for me? my dad runs a S300 on his non i/c 1st gen, i seems to run pretty well. i just dont like the lag it has to spool up for like driving around town.
