Default ATS Diesel quality and service

I purchased a transmission from ATS and had it installed in my RV by Top Gear in Brookings Or. We were able to make it 30 miles before we lost control of it. Turned out that somthing called a shift comb was not installed propely by ATS. Then after Top.Gear made the nessasary repairs we hit the road again we found out that we had no engine braking in first gear. We called ATS reapeatedly were either ignored or told that that was normal for over a month before they would agree to let us return it on warrenty. Then it took them 4 weeks to fix it and get it back to us. They do not normaly return phone calls or do what they say they will do or when they will do it. All together we sat idle for over 6 weeks waiting on them do provide us with what they advertise. I hope that no one else ever has to go through the grief of doing bussiness with them. I believe that they will be going out of bussiness soon as no bussiness can survive there lack of quality and service.

Down ATS wants to seel parts to make there tranny work???? WTF

ve been having trouble with my $4k+ tranny from ATS, the one's that guarantee a trouble free tranny and that is why we spend so much for them. My issues are that my ATS tranny is doing the "3rd - 4th gear hunt" I contacted ATS by email and received an email from Jeff Wolfe with direction to do a wire modification. That was done and the issue is still there. Now he states that I would need to purchase a "Signal Conditioner" from them for another $95.00 + shipping and the problem would go away. WTF!!!! I PAID OVER $4000.00 FOR THIS PILE OF SH@% AND another $1200.00 for the torque converter and "YOU WANT ME TO BUY PARTS TO MAKE IT WORK PROPERLY?????" If ATS knows this issue exists, why aren't you correcting it internally or including the "Signal Conditioner" with the transmission. I was told that these transmission were built to last and if we have any issues, ATS will fix it at no cost. BS!!! BS!!! BS!!!

Tell me ATS. If I were to pull this purple piece of sh@% today, send it back to you, will you make a full refund??? I would be more than happy to do that...

Thank you ATS and Jeff Wolfe for ignoring my concerns!!! I truly appreciate you ignoring my emails as well. GREAT BUSINESS PROFESSIONALISM.. Your showing your true colors

Default ATS Diesel quality and service

Well we got our warrenty repaired ATS tranny back after waiting more then 4 weeks. ATS paid for the shipping but after it was installed it would not function in 3ed or 4th gear. Then they sent us a third tranny but it is not the right model. We have been without our RV for ten weeks now and it is clear that ATS is incabable of building a transmission that works or shipping in a timly manner. I have given up on ATS and am starting over $4800.oo poorer and taking my buisness to another shop.

ats can attempt to defend themselves all they want. After spending over $5K and 20K miles later my tranny is doing the 3rd - 4th gear hunt. AGAIN! I had to do the modification early on and that seemed to cure the problem till this summer. I again contacted ats by email. Jeff Wolfe responded stating that basically I would need to "PURCHASE" a signal conditioner from them to make this $5000.00 + transmission work properly. BULLSH@%!!! Why are we paying the high dollars for these piles of crap. You fix the problem... Thats sure not what any of the sales pitches said. I emailed Mr. Jeff Wolfe back stating that I was upset that I would still need to spend more money to make they're tranny work properly. This issue should have been resolved prior to selling them. ats nor Mr. Wolfe has never returned my email or made any attempt to resolve this issue. That shows what kind of customer service they have. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from them and I will FOREVER recommend that no one else EVER buy from them as well. So ats, ignore this thread too. I will be posting for years to come. That you can count on or you can buy this transmission back which I would prefer and I will go away.

My name is Patrick with ATS Diesel Performance. Most of you will recognize me from CumminsForum - and some of you I've talked to on the phone.

In regards to the 3rd/4th hunt, there's a few things that need to be clarified. First, APPS Conditioners are not always required. We can add them to the price of our 98.5-02 47RE's (which most of our competitors don't include). Maybe we need to add that to the discussion. If most 47RE owners would like to pay $95 more for something they may or may not be needed, I can address the conditioner automatically being sent with every 47.

In regards to this 3/4 hunt, it is important to note - it is not an issue with the valve body, or converter, or even transmission. It is a signal issue that can exist on stock or modified trucks. I do appreciate Stefan @ DTT jumping in to offer his support. I'm sure they've seen the 3/4 issue as well.

If you'd like chat with me directly - I'm the only Patrick at ATS. We can chat about it over the phone or directly in this thread.

I'd absolutely disagree with that. I say that as someone who has been at ATS for two years. Who - prior to working here - wasn't a fan of ATS representation or customer service. I had called in or stopped by the shop to price products for my truck. I don't know if it was the person who answered the phone, or if they had a bad day, but I walked out saying, "I'm calling Suncoast."

And that's the reason I was hired at ATS, plain and simple. I knew they had good products . . . but the information, execution and post-sale service was hit or miss. So I've personally spent the last two years addressing these (and even issues back to the late 90's) to get them fixed. We've hired two guys who I have directed to do the same.

We are not perfect. I completely agree. But that will not stop us from attempting to be - whether it's an order from last week . . . or a turbo kit on an IDI Ford from 1993.

I agree with Stephan or Patrick of the 3/4 hunt. Most of the time this problem can be fixed with a simple apps noise isolater from like BD Diesel for 27 bucks. Or by reseting the APPS on your 98.5-02 for free and 30 min. out of your day. If that doesnt work make sure all the grounds on the truck are clean and making a good connection. If all these simple fixes dont work then it may be a bad solenoid in the valve body or something to that effect.

Some of the issues with sensors isnt the trans. manufactuers fault. I have replaced numerous sensors in trannies that have seemed fine on short drives got go back to crap after 15-20 miles. And thats a factory issue in poor quality control.

We have installed almost every aftermarket trans out there at the shop. And we have had a issue with every trans to some point or another. I guess the long and short of it is there will always be issues in anything built by man ( A concept in which most people today can not grasp for some reason).

My truck will be getting a "RKL Diesel Performance" transmission put in it when mine goes out! It's a local shop here in Utah and he has had great success with transmissions that I have seen. He is building Bully Dogs' race truck transmission for them and from what I can gather they are more then thrilled with it. This guy knows his stuff when it comes to building a transmission and I won't go anywhere else!

Default ATS Currently

I bought a 2006 5.9 Cummins Common Rail 4x4 in October of 2013 from a used car dealership. It was equipped with an ATS 48RE 4x4 tranny. I was very pleased with the purchase, and the truck drove great. I called ATS to see when the truck was equipped with the trans and was told March of 2013 and that it was under full warranty and that I woul be able to transfer the warranty to my name and did so. Everything was great till February 2014. It was then that I began having a lag in the shift between 1st and 2nd gear, I called ATS and assured that this was not uncommon, and nothing to worry about. So, assured by the "professionals" I continued driving the truck until the very end of July this year. It was then that the transmission completely failed and would not shift out of first. I called ATS, hauled it to the closest shop (out of my pocket). The shop diagnosed the problem in a couple of days and said it would have to be shipped to Colorado to be worked on. I was told 2-3 weeks and I would have it back. Nearly 7 weeks went by before they had the transmission back in my truck. I payed for a rental truck the entire time (no refund). I paid for shipping and handling, fluid, etc. $1400 total. Parts were the only thing covered. Even after all of this, I thought to myself, the truck runs great, maybe it was just a bad experience, just a one time thing. That was until 2 1/2 weeks later my transmission failed again. Would not shift out of first again. I called ATS, I was told to take it to a local transmission shop, as to save me in towing costs, but was later told to take it to their shop 2 hours away eventually. They then told me that the valve body was out in the transmission and that it would be $600 to fix. I only drove the truck for 2 1/2 weeks and was already fixing it again and it still came out of my pocket.

I'm totally unsatisfactory with their warranty work, efficiency, and over all work ethic. They lied to me over the phone, gave me false reassurances, and terrible service. I would advise against buying anything from ATS. They DO NOT care about their customers unless you represent a company relating to theirs. I would tell you to go somewhere else for your transmission needs. Get your current tranny rebuilt or something. DO NOT buy through ATS.
