Default Sorta EMERGENCY! 03 versus 05 turbo??

Well we really in a pinch and need a turbo for an 05. Would the turbo from my 03 automatic(341) work on the 05??(351) what all problems would that cause if any?? Would it even fit on?
Thanks!!!

biggest difference the 03 has a mechanical wastegate and the 05 has an electrical controlled wastegate.

So what happens or what are the symtoms if the wastegate or selenoid goes bad?? We have a LOUD air noise! High egts and max of like 30psi of really sluggish boost.(with his xzt 2 he usually sees 38 or so)

Check all the boots on the intercooler and intake amd make sure none are loose, that is where i would start.

All the boots and piping is good that we can find. Is there any way the intercooler could be internally damaged?

Do you have the plastic sided intercooler? if so it may have lost a seal.

i believe the majority of the 05 intercoolers are the plastic sided ones, at least that's what i've seen

but i think the turbo will bolt up i just would almost bet it would throw a code unless you have the little fooler that makes the truck think the electronic wastegate is still there

Yep the plastic ones don't like a lot of boost, i have seen them split, blow out the o ring and burst. first thing i did when i got my 05 was replace the intercooler.

Thanks a lot guys!! Got the problem solved... It was the intercooler. The aluminum part that crimped over the plastic part had blown apart... Such a wonderful design!!
The reason I was calling it an emergency is cause there was a kid wanting to buy the truck the next couple days and we wanted to get it fixed asap...
THANKS AGAIN!!!
