Default To turbo or not to turbo?

Got an awesome running 1993 N/A 6.2. has 396,000 kms on it(246,000 miles). I have the parts to turbo it. Should I turbo? Im kind of scared to. After talking to some mechanics they have told me to just leave it alone and run it as is. My trucks lifted 6 inches with 35s so the turbo would aid in pushing the tires and possibly give me better mileage.

I know I have to control boost to 7psi but Id be really upset if I started blowing headgaskets.

Any input or advice is appreciated.. thanks

I have a 1993 with a turbo'd 6.2 and it runs good. I've put over 25,000 miles on it without issue. I think you will be fine if you keep it around 7psi, and buy an EGT gauge and make sure you don't let it get too hot. Its still not a power house though but I make it up the hills better now. Also, keep your timing conservative too.

Do it if you like the truck now you will love it after putting a turbo on it but keep the boost low and as far as mileage it depends on the gear ratio of the truck.

Yes, add turbo and limit max boost to 10psi..
Likely get better fuel mileage than n/a too.

With that kind of mileage, you'll probably pop the head gaskets the first day, but you can't complain.

Turbo or go home, n/a diesels should be illegal.

You can safely run a Holset to around 20 psi without head studs, but good head gaskets.
