Default 48re question

I have a PDQ triple disk convertor and a hts "tow" valve body i had a choice to pick between a tow and race valvebody and i got the tow one because i thought i would be hauling alot more than i would be racing. i do like to go WOT sometimes but i feel like somethin is slipping when i really get on it. it seems to grab more in tow haul but sometimes when its in tow haul mode it revs all the way up 3500 and seems to not shift until i let off. should i have gotten the race valve body for more line pressure and first gear lock-up? is my convertor slipping? should i get upgraded bands and clutches? t.s. performance lock-up contoller? any suggestions

More line pressure is nice simply because it doesn't allow the clutches to slip and provides firmer shifts, also will lower your cooling temps just because you have more fluid flowing.

I don't think you need to worry about your clutches until you are making substantial power. I have seen some guys making 800hp on the stock clutches in our trucks. They are very very stout. but then again from your description it sounds like something isn't grabbing.

As far as hitting 3500rpms....These trucks can handle around 4500rpms for about 10-15seconds before your valves start to get pissed off... But it's not made to hit 4500rpms all the time either so yeah. You should be fine at 3500.

As far as locking up the converter in first. You can risk breaking your shafts. Even in racing applications its better to lock the converter up "just as it's" about to shift into 2nd. As far as towing, I believe it locks up in third I can't remember....
