Default Turbo Options

what would yall say would be the best setup for what i got. right now it is DDIII's(110hp) edge j/a and tranny soon to be fixed. HTT is what i would like in a 62/12 or a 62/14 but i dont think that i can swing that kind of jack. does anyone have experince with something that would have enough air to keep it cool. towing isnt that big of a factor, its mainly a dd. i thought about a pdrhx40 but that might have to much lag for a dd. any info is great!

thanks
Clay

ok i had a serious brain fart, i have already put a thread up like this before, so lets change it. what kind of boost should i be seeing with these injectors. i have an automatic and the HY. what do you guys thinks that i should be seein. i can oonly get 25-28lbs of boost. thats with the wastage workin. i am sure if i closed the wastage i would get a lot more btu i dont think i will be benefical. what yall think.

thanks

Boost will clearly be higher with the wastegate disabled. It may lead to overspeedign the turbo as well.

With the gate disabled, beyond 40psi is possible. Drive pressure will be crazy though. I would start looking for another turbo.

I don't like the HX40 spool compared to the S300 variants. A DD auto that tows, or a tight auto and or tall gears would benefit from the smaller housing. If a bit of lag and smoke on the bottom is not an issue, the 14 will work fine. I would recommend going smaller if more fuel is not in your future.

so would you say that a s300 would keep it cool pretty well. my towing wont ever be real heavy (8000 or less). because i can probally get a s300 pretty cheap and not break the bank and upgrade it later correct?

Not a box stock S300.

Many of these newer turbos are based on the S300. The trick is knowing what mods are necessary in addition to the correct wheels.

A 62/12 is a safe bet for most mild mannered trucks that need good spool and some EGT relief.

A turbo alone won't solve the problem if you are way overfueled. If you are borderline or just a bit over the edge, yes it will help.

i jhooked closed my turbo. and it did great. but it also put the hurt on it. 2 months ago when i finally got to upgrade. the shaft was so tight from running it hot. and had changed colors like 6 times. stupid thing would only spool 27 pounds. if your thinking of upgrading soon it should be fine. mine lasted 2 years.
i added the bd superB. i tow and drive. i normally have about 1200lbs of junk in my truck alltimes. plus 6000lbs of trailer. the new one spools almost the same as my hy-35 with my setup. and its upgradable to twins later, if you want to go that route. if you wanna stay with a single

just a few words! hope this helps!

The BD Super B Single!

The Super B Single is based off the S300 and includes a 4" downpipe and an adjustable wastegate. They offer the widest efficiency range on the market and still leave the BD Super B Twin upgrade available too you if you decide you need to take it to the next level one day.

Hope this helps, have a great weekend all!

So Dave, whats involved in the twin upgrade? Does it make the towing twins or something else?

It can be upgraded to either the towing twins or the R700 race twins

Dave's telling you the straight scoop, the BD super B would be perfect for you. It comes in kit form with everything you need. I think you would love it.
