All great ideas! Now i was in your boat. except my truck wouldn't move(trans). I bought the parts from Transtar and rebuilt it with my uncle. Tha convertor is obviously an ATI and the internals are transgo and transtar. He told me to call around and ask questions. Its simple to do if you have a 15-20 ton press for the overdrive unit. And the correct size drill bits for the shift kit. The hard part is getting it out and putting it back in. ATI also makes a triple disc but i didn't have the funds. The single disc is holding up great. Installed the lock-up switch and a few days later broke the input shaft. So get one of them and a laminated flex plate too

1500 my cost to do myself. Add 740ish for the input and 440ish for the flex plate.

well im pretty good at mechanic work, so i think i could figure it out if i did it myself. thing is i have never done anything inside of an automatic transmission. could you maybe give me a list of parts i would need, somewhat cheap but i dont wanna have to do it again so they need to hold up.

I can even get you part numbers. But like i said. You WILL NEED a very large press. AT least 10 ton. I used a 50 ton(way over kill). Just give me a few days to get home.( on base and goin home for vacation). And ill get back to you with either a pm or bby posting on this thread.

the 50 ton makes compressing the overdrive spring super easy I think it really only requires 2-4 tons of pressure. I honestly can't remember.

We can get you a heavy duty rebuild kit from Suncoast, while your in there you might as well put in a good valvebody and torque converter, all new solenoids and things like that. Let me know if we can be of any assistance.
