Why do you say no bottom tap needed? From what I understand, the whole reason for using the tap is to clean out the threads and not every hole is completely tapped from the factory, so you could have some studs threaded in further than others, creating a "weak" point. This ensures every hole is completely threaded allow for maxium engagement of the studs.

Gotcha. I think tapping is just to make sure the all the studs have the maximum amount of contact with the block. I've only done studs on my 12v and I tapped it so I'm iffy the pros and cons, but I'd like to see the differences between one that had not been bottom tapped and one that has been.
