I broke mine off as well and it was flush with pump. I used a easy out bit and worked well!!!!!

Once the clamping force is off, it generally comes out easily. After I broke the head off and took the housing out, it came out easy. I think we all should have snugged up the other 3 bolts first, THEN taken care of the break off... the other 3 bolts would have taken the pressure off of it....
