I also had found a build video, there they showed how the installed a very lightened rotating assembly and noted that it was to rotate that mass over 7000rpm !

they can turn 7000 but they wont do it for very long at 7500 a cast block will not hold up. 6500 is about the tops that any of the big guys are turning them but mostly they run them in the 5500 range.
there is a nice video of a truck turning 9800 on compd but it was only for about .001 sec until it rips apart in a blaze of glory.
it takes alot of work to get them to turn 5500 and make power there as well as live.

Still, thats a hell of alot of R's for a diesel to spin IMO.

I was at a tractor pull event last year and I had seen a tractor (unknown class) with a 2-stroke v8 Detroit, in the pits. I gravitated to the sound of this thing, that sounded like it was screaming (super high revs). Orgasmic to say the least......
Anyway, one of the pit crew indicated that it was only a 2700 rpm rev. Just an amazing sound!

hence the names 2stroke and 4stroke....
I'd love myself a 12V92TA, that's 1000hp right there, the tugboat in our harbour has two of these... and the sound when it's moving stuff around.... i could jizz my pants sometimes...

A two stroke will usually sound like it's reving twice as fast as it ignites every 2 strokes, compared to every 4 strokes on a 4 stroke motor...
