How much boost ya trying to make? Sounds like bunches and bunches of boost to me :w2:

the guys ive talked to running those are 800+ pullers as a single. so bunches and bunches. thats a 2.8 and 3.0 turbo

no i'm not taking the twins off... NEVER... just wondering if i should trade in my CAT for another Cummins (24valve) and build a Strip truck... i have another HX60 laying around and i think i can source all the parts needed for a P-pump swap...

BTW, let me ask you. would twins benefit an otherwise stock engine in any way? Ive bounced the thought around in my head. The only mods I have are whats on my sig. Im looking for eye appeal, and maybe bragging rights in my area. The only time I work my truck is when I tow my travel trailer on my many trips per year. My trailer weighs roughly 9200+- fully loaded. I really would like to keep it reliable, and its a 23 mpg truck.

Of course you can benefit from a twin setup, if you use the stock charger on your truck already, you might want to add an extra wastegate to dump into your middle pipe (from your stock charger into your primary)...

a good turbo to run as with the stock would be a HX50/55...

you might want to buy a set of studs though, but with studs you will be completely safe...

stock GSK, HX50/55 and a little more fuel... and you're good for 400ish whp ! safe reliable and stock towing capabilities ;)

WHat would a set up like that set me back? rough estimate......
Can I run this set up with stock injectors? Ive got about 50k on 2nd set now.

find a local cummins dealer, they are Holset dealers aswell...

a used HX50/55 might set you back 300$ i'd guess, then you would have to plumb it, wich shouldn't be all that much trouble, anyone with welding skills should be able to help you out...

You can run the stock injectors, at least until you save up for new ones, i would turn the barrels on your pump though, you can run plenty of fuel with a big primary as long as you have good AFC tuning.... and you won't run into EGT problems...

I seriously don't understand why "The BIG three" don't use compound sets instead of VGT turbos... VGTs have a tendency to cause EGT and backpressure problems due to their narrow exhaust housings or actually narrow exhaust vane...

To be honest, a small exhaust housing with a big wastegate set at the right boost to dump into a BIG primary.... a setup like my own... is the way to go...

I see no difference in driving my truck with the setup i have now than when it was stock, except for that now it has tremendous power, a huge amount of torque and with the correct driveline setup i feel like i could tow just about anything...

of course i feel that the HX40 takes a bit longer time to spool than that HX35... BUT with a higher rev-limit i don't feel it so bad....

The dream situation for you, would be to trade in your HX35 in on a HX40, get a 4 or 5k GSK, try to aquire a HX60, turn your barrels & max your pump, grind a custom #0 fuel plate, and tune your AFC for about 25# boost...

You might get a little haze this way, maybe a MACK plug might help...

But this kind of setup will most definately put you in the 400whp zone, even with stock injectors... you will be capable of 650whp with only 5x.014 squirters...

i'm guessing... a HX40 trade on the HX35... 250$? HX60 to put under it... 500$ used ? 4k GSK & 60# Valvesprings... 180$? Custom fab for the plumbing & downpipe with material... 400$ rest is free...

I'm saying... for maximum 2000$ you could build your own custom setup!

Well, thats not as expensive as I had first thought. I thought more into the 4k dollar range for that. But, what do you mean by "turn your barrels", "grind a custom #0 fuel plate"? I have a common rail with cp3.:humm:

Then you will need a tuner/programmer that you can install custom tunes on...

stock injectors are good for a lot over stock... i'd say you could be in the 500-550whp range.. but you will need an upgraded lift pump...

i'm unsure if you can flip the manifold on the CR... so you might have to get a new exhaust manifold...

but other than that... you should be able to build your own custom twin setup....
