Default 48re Transmission issues

hey guys having issues on a 2003 dodge 24v with the 48re transmission. it was slipping and then wouldnt go into gear, we finally got it to go 40 kmph but then it finally wouldnt do anything. it is leaking transmission fluid like crazy and its pretty black.... . its leaking from the torque converter/ flywheel cover. if anyone has any ideas let me know as i dont want to have a buy a whole new tranny.... thanks

input shaft seal, dead giveaway.... if the trans fluid is that black, then you NEED to do a solid transmission flush after replacing the input shaft... ONLY check the fluid level in Neutral, and hot in dodge tranny's....

Check your overdrive unit as well, they shatter like crazy without a transfer case support bracket...
