Step 1
Buy a new (new, refurbished, used)one. If you do get a used transmission don't expect there to be many (if any) usable internal parts in your old one.

Step 2
Install the new transmission right behind the engine.

first off where is the crack, if its not too terible yet it could be fixed and you wont have to buy a new trans

well i got a new main case to day and every thing in my trans is in really good shape so now it is time to swap everything from my bad case to my new case. it was cracked right behind the bell housing bolt on the driver side about 3 inches starting at the top.

so it was just on the bellhousing part, not into the trans yet? you can get that fixed, they can weld a crack like that up fairly easily and pretty cheap

oh gotcha, yeah if its leaking its pretty much done, but cast iron can be repared as well but a little more spendy.
