Its not about getting pulled over and checked, its about getting them emissions tested in counties that require it. Don't kid yourself, in states and counties that require testing the avergae tester has a script he has to follow and verify or he gets his license pulled. If you think a diesel will pass gas emissions I think you are being way optimistic. I believe the NOX standards are tighter on gas motors and the particulates in Diesel are not going help.

You can't beg off saying its a diesel cuz the VIN says its gas, you are caught with no options. No smog check, no tags.

That's why I said diesel in a gasser was whole nuther ball 'o wax, and meant to ask about the outcome on that one, if it was licensed yet, or what the story was. Would have to be old enough for exemption, or something like that.

The county that truck resides in does not mandate emissions testing so its not an issue. I live one county away but it is one of the metro Atlanta counties that does testing and it would be rejected. Doesn't mean there aren't ways around it but lets just say those solutions exist outside of the laws intent.
