the dash, lights , and other controls are all controlled by the TIPM ( totally ingerated powertrain module) my step dads truck lost signal in the tipm and the truck started but had no dash no radio no lights nothing and when put in gear it shut down, the 12 valve will run thats the simple part making it work with all the rest of the truck it the pain. to many computers to fool. now if you run stand alone gauges and light wiring to bypass that tipm then your ok

If you wanted to spend the money to do a complete custom dash and associated electrical work to re-wire the entire truck it could be a very interesting, one-off truck. Assuming it was done right, a nicely modded P-pumped '05 12v would be quite unique. And expensive.
Unless you are willing and able to spend alot of money and time, it would probably end up being a kludgy beast that never worked quite right.

And after you get all that done the auto trans won't work right cuz the controls are in the ECU.
Its not the TIPM that sthe problem, thats only power distribution center. Its all the OTHER computers that control the AC, Alternator, dash cluster, ABS, etc, that won't like things.
A 12V into a CR truck is NOT for the faint of heart and by any means easy. Your much better off fixing the CR motor if you want the truck to be useful.
