Default 48re question

hi everyone my roommate has a 06 ctd bone stock and his 48re started acting up on him he says that it runs the rpms up really high in first gear before it will shift into second he was told it was the gov pressure solenoid just curious (because im probably gonna be the one replacing it) if you think this diagnoses is correct

Ok so he replaced the solenoid with another factory pos against my advice and it's still has the problem so my next guess would be second gear is going out what do you guys think is it time for a rebuild

If it is going into 2nd then that gear is not out. Output shaft speed senosr would be the next piece to replace and hope he did the transducer at the same time he did the solenoid.

The transducer is the part that reads actual gov pressure and lets the TCM set the gov solenoid correctly. Dual function pressure and temp sensor on the VB right next to the gov solenoid. They are a crappy piece and need swapped out every 40k or so or their readings drift.

ok so we replaced the sensor and no change and now we're fairly certain second gear is gone we tried shifting it down into second going about 40 and it just acted like it was in neutral so now were trying to decide what next

Rebuild or replace the band if the drum is not tore up too bad. There is a slip in band that will get you back on the road.

I need my 48re rebuilt and a new tq converter for my 2004 ram 3500 dually 5.9 cummins. I haul a 14k dump trailer on a daily basis with it. Can anyone recommend the best setup for my truck for this rebuild considering what I haul. Thanks in advance for all input.
