I'm trying to comprehend all of this.... you have in tank and didn't remove old pump from engine bay? Why not? The intank pumps are pretty weak, but I'm not sure how you can have both. If the one in the engine bay is turning on than you don't have power to the one in the tank (I'm GUESSING) because I'm pretty sure theres only 1 plug

AND if I'm right, your FACTORY lift pump is trying to pull fuel thru the in tank pump, which it cannot do (because nothing can pull fuel thru a non operating electric pump.) So that should be your solution.

Did you unplug harness to factory pump and plug it into the harness Dodge gives you with intank pump (has inline fuse that comes off battery, uses same connection for power?)

That airtex will fail very quickly! If your going this route make sure you have fuel pressure gauge or you will be buying a 1200.00 vp44.
As said above, you would have to install the mopar retrofit kit if you have a on the block carter.
We just installed a fass direct replacement pump on a 5.9l yesterday. It's a much higher quality product, Comes with a 4 year warranty , and is in the same price range as most factory replacements. I would consider one of these. Most auto parts stores will return the airtex with no questions asked.

thanks guys for the response just bought the fass platinum need this truck for work monday im gonna drop the tank pull out the airtex and return it the only reason i changed it was the lines rotted out. with this fass i also got the draw straw so im gonna put the old module back in after i seal it all up so i have the fuel gauge the only thing that concerns me is the drilling into the frame to mount this pump what do you think?
