Question DRAGGING/ LOCKED UP FRONT BRAKES

2001 DODGE RAM 2500 WITH 230000 MILES...2 weeks ago i was driving down the road and my front brakes started grabbing as i was driving thru town. the problem was progessivly getting worse untill they completly locked up. i first noticed the problem when i was cruzin about 30 mph and it felt like my truck had no power and it was working harder than it should be. pulled into a parking lot after putting the truck in 4 low and inspected the front end. to find a smoldering pile of brake dust and the rotor with sever gouging. got the truck towed home and inspected the front brakes driver side innner pad had 1/16 of pad left outter pad had 1/8 inch left, passenger side inner and outter pads had almost 3/8 of pad left on them. the truck wasnt pulling to left or right at all. does anyone have any ideas whats going on?

Rubber lines could be swelled up and not allowing fluid back out also remove the caliper and pads and take a big channel lock and see how hard it is to push the pistons back in. Calipers could be froze up. For the uneven wear on one side gonna have to check and see how the slide pins that hold the caliper on look and move.

I would do a complete brake job on the front and inspect the rear, dont forget new fluid all the way around, inspect rotors too, new ones arent bad and it sounds as if the originals may be warped anyway

the 01.5 has discs on the rear and an 01 doesnt so if your truck is an 01 then do this on the rear as well.................very easy

I had this happen on my 99. I replaced the hydraboost and calipers, but it ended up being a Brake master cylinder. the spring inside becomes weak and does not let the pressure leave the calipers.
